Future Champions Fund

To train as part of a National Team and compete on a National and International Stage takes a lot of dedication, commitment and sacrifice. Not only by the athletes themselves but also by their families. A lot of families make financial sacrifices to support their child's dream of competing on the National and International Stage.

But no matter how much we try, we just cannot fund everyone who shows dedication for International Level training. So the Chepstow Taekwon-do - Future Champions Fund was born, because of this overwhelming need to see someone thrive where they otherwise may fail. By doing so, we are hoping that we can lessen the impact that social, economic and employment poverty has on our community of athletes who deserve to reach new heights as competitors.

Who is eligible?

The Fund will look to assist students who show exceptional promise the opportunity to develop their Taekwon-do by providing financial assistance where possible. Children with additional needs, from underprivileged, low income or single parent households will be marked as possible beneficiaries as well as children who show exceptional promise and potential and attitude to training.

Who decides where money is awarded?

Recipients of financial assistance can be nominated by anyone. This nomination will then be discussed at length by our Board of Trustees, who will come to a decision based on need and use of funds. Our Board of Trustees is made up of 2 Dedicated Adult students, two parents of our Junior Students and myself. All allocated funding will be monitored closely to ensure it is being used in the best possible way. No money can be spent without a majority vote from the board.

It vitally important to make you aware that NO money is awarded to Chepstow Taekwon-do directly or indirectly. Although this may change in the future, if a need arises where a child could benefit from a Chepstow Taekwon-do scholarship.

What have we done to raise money so far?

Thanks to some donations from amazing Local Businesses, the Chepstow Taekwon-do Community and members of the whole Taekwon-do community, we have been able to raise some money to kick start the Future Champions Fund. This has been gathered by connecting with Local Businesses as well as running a Raffle with many Local Companies donating prizes.

How have we already spent 'Future Champions Fund' money?

Thanks to the success of our raffle and through connecting with local businesses, we have been able to share proceeds from our 'Future Champions Fund' between a few different areas across our club, whilst at all times, keeping the focus on the success of our students. We have been able to fully fund transport to and from a competitive tournament in Manchester for our students. This has allowed us to take a team of 6 students who, more than likely, would never have competed at such an event so far away from home.

We have also been able to purchase two sets of 'ITF approved' safety equipment for our students which will hopefully lessen the financial impact of being picked to represent at National and International tournaments outside of our organisation, where competitors may need to have different safety equipment than to what they currently own.

How are we planning to spend 'Future Champions Fund' money?

This may vary from; being able to pay for transport to and from a national competition for our students, offering to support students who may require additional funding to continue to succeed and progress, whether competitively or just in their training, by providing equipment, clothing needed to compete or train, funding students' to attend national squad training sessions if they show interest and potential and cannot afford this without assistance, purchasing more kit to lend out to students who may be unable to afford it without assistance.

As you can see, we have a lot of areas in which we can assist our students who show potential and promise but this is only possible with access to funding from organisations and businesses willing to support us.
